# Protect & Sign

Protecting a PDF uses encryption: an open password stops anyone without it from viewing the file, and permission settings ask PDF readers to block printing, copying or editing. Signing records approval: a drawn or typed signature is an image on the page, while a certificate-based digital signature also reveals later changes.

- Protect PDF (Coming soon): Encrypt a PDF with a password so only people who know it can open the file.
- Sign PDF (Coming soon): Place a drawn, typed or image signature on a PDF and save the signed file.
- Unlock PDF (Coming soon): Remove the password from a PDF you are allowed to open, after entering the current password.
