# Science & Engineering Calculators

Science and engineering calculators apply standard formulas from physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, earth science and engineering to the values you enter. Sections follow the fields taught in school and university, from mechanics and electronics to chemistry and materials. Keep units consistent, because many formulas expect metric SI units such as meters, kilograms and seconds.

## Tools

- Speed, Distance and Time Calculator (Coming soon): Find speed, distance or travel time from the other two values, with common units for each.
- Ohm's Law Calculator (Coming soon): Find voltage, current, resistance or power from any two known values using Ohm's law.
- Molar Mass Calculator (Coming soon): Calculate the molar mass of a chemical formula, such as H2SO4 or Ca(OH)2, from standard atomic weights.

## Frequently asked questions

### What does Ohm's law say?

Ohm's law says that the voltage across a resistor equals the current through it multiplied by its resistance, written V = I × R. If you know any two of voltage, current and resistance, you can find the third: 2 amps through a 6-ohm resistor needs 12 volts.

### How is molar mass calculated?

Add up the atomic masses of every atom in the chemical formula; the total is the molar mass in grams per mole. Water, H2O, has two hydrogen atoms at about 1.008 g/mol each and one oxygen atom at about 15.999 g/mol, for a total of about 18.015 g/mol.
