# Audio in Video

A video file usually stores sound as a separate audio track next to the picture, so the sound can be handled on its own. Typical jobs are saving the soundtrack as MP3, removing it for a silent clip, swapping it for music or a voice-over, and raising the volume of quiet recordings.
