Accessibility statement
Techolm, made by Dewiride, aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, and automated tests check part of that standard in light and dark themes. We do not claim full conformance: the known gaps are listed below. If something is hard to use, contact Dewiride through its website.
Our target
We design and test Techolm to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) standard for making web content usable by people with disabilities. The checks below are our own, and we do not claim full conformance.
What our tests check
Automated tests check the following on every change:
- axe, an automated accessibility checker, scans the site's pages and components against the WCAG A and AA rules in light and dark themes, and any serious or critical issue fails the tests;
- the Tab key reaches every control in order, and each control shows a visible focus outline, has a name that assistive technology can announce, and is not covered by other content;
- the "Skip to content" link at the start of each page moves past the menu to the page's content;
- pages fit a window 320 pixels wide without sideways scrolling, as the WCAG rule on reflow asks;
- color contrast is at least 4.5 to 1 for text, 7 to 1 for body text on the page, and 3 to 1 for controls and focus outlines, in both themes.
The browser tests run in Chromium, Firefox and WebKit, the engines of Chrome, Firefox and Safari, on desktop and at phone and tablet sizes.
Built into the design
Pages are built in advance, so their text is in the page even when JavaScript is off. Animations are turned off when your device asks for reduced motion. The theme follows your device's light or dark setting unless you choose one with the theme button at the top right of every page.
Known gaps
These are the gaps we know about:
- Our tests do not yet include any screen reader, a program that reads the screen aloud.
- The automated checker fails our tests only on serious or critical issues, so moderate or minor issues may remain.
- Tools need JavaScript: without it, a tool page shows its text, but the tool's controls stay disabled.
- The theme button, the menus and dialogs that open over a page, and the short notices that appear after an action also need JavaScript. Without it, the main links still work.
- Without JavaScript, a set of tabs shows only the tab that is open when the page loads.
- The site is in English only.
- A few symbols, such as →, ≤, ≥, ≠, √ and ∞, come from your device's own fonts, so they can look different from the text around them.
Supported browsers
Techolm supports current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Older versions are not supported.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on Techolm is hard or impossible for you to use, contact Dewiride through its website. Tell us the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser and any assistive technology you use, such as a screen reader or a magnifier. We use these reports to fix problems and to update this statement.
