Math & Statistics Calculators

Math and statistics calculators solve number problems from everyday percentages and fractions to algebra, trigonometry, calculus, matrices, statistics and probability. Topics follow the order of a typical math course, from arithmetic to graphing. Each tool page explains the formula or method it uses, so you can check a result by hand.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a percentage and a percentage point?

A percentage point is the simple difference between two percentages, while a percent change compares that difference with the starting value. If an interest rate rises from 10% to 12%, it has gone up by 2 percentage points, which is a 20% increase.

What is the difference between the mean, median and mode?

The mean is the sum of the values divided by how many there are, the median is the middle value once the values are sorted, and the mode is the value that appears most often. For the values 2, 3, 3 and 8, the mean is 4, the median is 3 and the mode is 3.

Are unit conversions part of Math & Statistics?

No. Converting a value from one unit to another, such as inches to centimeters or pounds to kilograms, belongs to the Unit Converters section. Math & Statistics covers calculations on the numbers themselves, such as percentages, equations, areas and averages.
